Lyle Kessler serves as the Director of the Playwright/Directors Unit of the East Coast Actors Studio.  He is a member of NYC’s LAByrinth Theater Company.  He served as Director of the Sundance Screenwriter’s Lab.  His Tony nominated play Orphans starred Alec Baldwin and Ben Foster on Broadway.  Al Pacino, Albert Finney and Jesse Eisenberg are a few of the stars who have performed in Orphans, which is currently being produced world-wide in countries as diverse as Japan, Turkey, Spain, France and Sydney, Australia.  Collision was produced at New York’s Rattlestick Theater.  The Great Divide last summer at the Elephant Theater in L.A.  Mr. Kessler is an actor who studied privately with Lee Strasberg and actually played him in Mark Rydell’s film James Dean, starring James Franco.

Lyle’s NYC Master Class for Actors meets every Monday night from 6pm - 10pm at a theater in the East Village.  This master acting class explores scene work and character development.  The class also focuses on developing new material from our guest playwrights and directors.  The actors work on Mr. Kessler’s old and new plays as well as work from a select group of N.Y. playwrights.  This is a rare opportunity to create theater with some of the brightest talents in New York.  Various writers, directors, actors and filmmakers pop into class to observe and participate.  Alec Baldwin, Malcolm McDowell, Chazz Palminteri and Larry Moss are a few of the artists who have participated in the class.
